Team Russia Opens World Cup Camp

Summer has officially come to an end for the Capitals’ Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov, as Team Russia held their first practice this afternoon at the Yubileyny Sports Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Notes from the practice:
A brief scare during the Team Russian afternoon practice, as Ovechin was nailed by a blast from the point by Dmitry Orlov. Ovechkin would have to leave the practice. Not a good negotiation tactic when you’re in the middle of a long, drawn-out contract negotiation.

Early lines and defensive pairings:

Defensive Pairings:

The Capitals Dmitry Orlov was in top D-pair at first practice.
