On August 23rd, the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced the selection of 27 NHL prospects and rookies to attend the 2016 NHLPA Rookie Showcase, to be held today at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Canada.
Jakub Vrana, the Washington Capitals first round draft pick from 2014 (13th overall) was selected to participate in this years showcase. Riley Barber, the Capitals 6th round draft pick in 2012 was also invited to attend this years showcase. Last year Madison Bowey was the sole representative from the Capitals franchise.
The event provides Upper Deck — the official partner of the NHLPA and the NHL — with a the opportunity to photograph and film many of the game’s top young prospects and rookies in their official NHL team uniforms.
