Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz joined Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock and Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville, along with other NHL coaches and NHL alumni to support the 11th annual Peters and Pilon celebrity golf tournament, held at Dakota Dunes Casino, just outside of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The annual outing helps raise money and awareness for KidSport.
Gary Peters and Rich Pilon both played in the NHL and know how sport can enhance the quality of a child’s life. The pair wanted a way to give the same opportunities they had when they were young, to kids who need them today. As a result, they created the Peters & Pilon Celebrity Golf Tournament and partnered with their charity of choice, Kidsport.
KidSport is a children’s charity which assists children of families facing financial obstacles to participate in community sport programs so that all kids can play.
Rich Pilon is the father of Garrett Pilon, the Capitals third-round draft pick this year. (NoVa Caps interview with Garrett can be found here).
