#10: Kuzy’s Hat Trick | Washington Capitals vs Edmonton Oilers
On Friday October 23rd the Caps took on the Edmonton Oilers. It was the final game as visitors of Rexall Place for the Caps and they were looking for back-to-back wins coming off a 3-2 win in Vancouver the previous night.
Evgeny Kuznetsov had arguably his best game of the season as the young Russian center notched his first career NHL hat trick.
And Locker says: “BANG BANG BANG!”.
The game started out in a back-and-fourth affair with a total of five goals in the opening period. Kuznetsov got the Caps on the board early on. The Oilers tied it at 10:59 with a goal by Benoit Pouliot. The Caps answered just over a minute later with a power play goal by Nicklas Backstrom. A goal by Rob Klinkhammer less than three minutes later tied the game at 2 before Marcus Johansson put the Caps ahead 3-2 before the first intermission.
Edmonton once again tied it up 36 seconds into the second with a goal by top draft pick Connor McDavid. Kuznetsov tallied his second goal at 6:17 and the Caps extended their lead with goals by Andre Burakovsky and Justin Williams. Kuznetsov got his third goal at 16:59 of the third period on the power play as the Caps got a huge 7-4 road win and Kuzy leaves the ice with his first career Hat Trick!
