Alzner Undergoes Successful Surgery

Karl Alzner underwent a successful sport hernia repair of the pelvic floor on Wednesday morning. 

The Washington Capitals announced Wednesday afternoon that defensman Karl Alzner underwent surgery Wednesday morning.

From the Capitals press release:
Based on the nature of this procedure, we are confident that Karl will be completely healthy prior to the start of the 2016-17 regular season.

Karl Alzner confirmed following the Caps season-ending loss to the Penguins, that he had been dealing with a groin injury of late. Alzner, who has come to garner the nickname as the “Iron Man”, had been dealing with the injury for some time.

The pelvic floor or pelvic diaphragm is composed of muscle fibers of the ani, the coccygeus muscle, and associated connective tissue which span the area underneath the pelvis.
