NoVa Caps Podcast – Sticking to the Script!

NoVa Caps Podcast

“Nothing gives one person so much of an advantage over another as to remain cool and unruffled under all circumstances.” Thomas Jefferson

The NoVa Caps Podcast team is pleased to share their most recent recording. In this episode, recorded on Tuesday, April 19th, Gabe, George, Scott and Craig discuss the first three games in Round One of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where the Capitals lead the series against the Flyers 3-0.

The Washington Capitals demonstrated calmness, leadership and maturity and displayed these attributes on the ice last night at the Wells Fargo Center. All while in the midst of some of the most disrespectful and classless Flyers fans who were exceeding their reputation as some of the most ill-mannered fans in the NHL.

This fierce calmness in the midst of what could have easily turned into an extremely dually violent game was a key element in the Capitals game three win. The team’s ability to remain focused and to play according to their script was and will be one of the most significant factors that will keep this team on the ice and advancing in the playoffs.

You’ll want to tune in to hear the cast discuss this in greater detail and you’ll also hear their thoughts on other key factors that have had significant contributions to the series, such as: our very own brick wall Netminder (SA% = .978), the penalty kills and special teams – does it get any better than this?

Switching gears to our offense, a lot has been said about Chimera’s goal in game two…Scott, our own netminder and goal tending expert, discusses this lucky bounce and talks about how that goal has changed the tone of the series. Through game three, we’ve got points on the board from: Kuzy (1), Backstrom (1), Carlson (3), Johansson (1), Ovechkin (3), Beagle (2) and as mentioned above, Chimmer (1)!

The guys will also weigh in on who they’d prefer as our opponent in round two, the possibility of a week off and what’s happening in the other series currently underway.
