Before last night’s historic win, the plan for Capitals netminder Braden Holtby was to sit out the final game of the season so that Philipp Geubauer could get some playing time. But now, after tying future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur’s record for the most wins in a single season (48), should head coach Barry Trotz let Holtby take a shot at breaking the record?
“It hasn’t even crossed my mind”, Trotz said after last night’s game. But he didn’t actually say no. While Trotz’ reasoning behind giving Holtby a rest was to rest him for the playoffs, Holtby started 73 games last year and didn’t look at all fatigued in the playoffs; he actually put up some very impressive numbers.

The Caps can’t afford to risk Holtby getting hurt, but at the same time with the record within reach, would Trotz really sent Holtby that chance? A NoVa Caps Twitter poll conducted thismorning showed strong fan support for playing Holtby tonight.
What do you think Caps fans? Do you think Holtby should start tonight, or do you think Grubauer should get it?
