A relatively quiet Sunday morning in Ballston.  The Washington Capitals began their transition to somewhat normal regular season practice protocols this morning, as the team officially broke camp yesterday.  There was no team skate this morning due to this evenings early start time for their final pre-season game against the Islanders. Puck drop is 5:00 PM. The game will be televised on CSN. The Capitals will have the day off tomorrow (Monday).

Islanders @ Capitals
The Capitals are 4-0-2 this preseason, the Islanders New York Islanders 2-5-0.  The rosters for tonight’s game:

Notes regarding tonight’s roster: Eric Boulton and Tom Wilson are both in tonight’s lineup.  As you may recall, the Islanders Eric Boulton stated after the last Caps-Isles meeting on Monday night, that Tom Wilson “was afraid to fight him”. We shall see where this goes tonight.

Derek Roy and Chandler Stephenson are not playing tonight.  Brooks Orpik will not play tonight, however, Trotz said yesterday it’s likely that Orpik will play in the season opener.

CaptureRoster Management
Coach Trotz stated yesterday that there would probably be no more roster cuts until after tonight’s game with the Islanders.  The Capitals roster currently sits at 28, and will need to be down to 23 by 5:00 pm on Tuesday.

News and Notes
Since Trotz will not be playing Derek Roy or Chandler Stephenson in the pre-season finale, so t’s likely the decision has been made, and also likely Roy won the job and the two sides are working on a contract.
