No morning skate this morning (Sunday) at Kettler, as the veterans have the day off.  The Veterans return to the ice tomorrow morning (Monday) at 9:10 a.m.  The Capitals prospects held morning skate at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida this morning.

As per Alex Prewitt, “Chatted with Trotz between periods. Expectation is that Orpik (wrist) will be healthy in time for exhibitions, but not Backstrom (hip).  Trotz said he spoke with Latta, Laich, Burakovsky all recently, told them to expect time at both wing and center during camp.”  More on Backstrom’s current status here:

The Capitals have invited C Derek Roy to training camp on a professional tryout basis. Roy will report to camp later this week.

One more note from Troy Mann: Already mentioning 2nd-rounder Jonas Siegenthaler (Zurich) as a possible spring addition for the Bears.
