News and Notes from Capitals Morning Skate (09-11-15)

Jay Beagle and Zach Sill (#23) both returned to Kettler this morning.  The only remaining player yet to skate at Kettler is Alex Ovechkin, who will arrive on September 14th.  The Capitals will again practice at Kettler tomorrow morning, from 9:10 to 11:10 a.m.

Rookie Tournament
Capitals players participating in the four-team rookie tournament traveled to Fort Myers, Florida yesterday, and practiced this morning.  The tournament gets started tomorrow (Saturday).  The Capitals first game is at 3 PM on Saturday against the Florida Panthers rookies. You can watch the game streamed on WashingtonCaps.com or listen to the game on Caps Radio.

Practice Lines
As per Mike Vogel, Practice lines for during this mornings rookie practice: Vrana-Stephenson-Barber, Herbert-Boyd-O’Brien, Walker-Koules-Elgestal, McGauley-Cox-Wilson/DeBlois. Defensive pairings Siegenthaler-Bowey, Djoos-Lewington, Texeira-Hobbs, Gibbs-Basso. Goalies: Vanecek, Kozun.

News and Notes
The Washington Capitals and Verizon Center will build the ice surface at Verizon Center on Monday, Sept. 14, through Tuesday, Sept. 15.  The placement of logos and markings will occur after 2 p.m. on Sept. 15.

As per Alex Prewitt, Jay Beagle, on how contract negotiations — and re-signing for 3 years, $5.25 million — affected his summer: “Made it 100 times better.”

Training Camp Day
The Washington Capitals will host Caps Training Camp Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. More info here.
