Andre Burakovsky, Brooks Orpik, Brooks Laich, Taylor Chorney, Tyler Lewington, and Erik Burgdoerfer made their way back to Kettler Tuesday morning. They join those already back in the mix, including: Tom Wilson, Madison Bowey, Nicklas Backstrom, Marcus Johansson, Chris Brown, Justin Williams, Braden Holtby, Phillip Grubauer and Mitch Korn: They join early arrivers Karl Alzner, Jason Chimera, John Carlson, Matt Niskanen, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitri Orlov, Stanislav Galiev, Liam O’Brien, Nathan Walker, Jakub Vrana, Vitek Vanecek, and Connor Carrick.
Those yet to return include: Alex Ovechkin (9/14), Jay Beagle, and T.J. Oshie (arrives in Virginia tonight).
With Alex Ovechkin still in Russia — “family commitment, per the team — Nicklas Backstrom attends the NHL media tour in Toronto today.
Justin Peters (knee) warmed up solo but left the ice before scrimmaging. Brooks Orpik (wrist) scrimmaged but left before skating drills.
News and Notes
The players participated in the first 5 on 5 scrimmage this morning. Justin Williams scored the first goal for Team White. Goalies in the scrimmage were Holtby, Grubaur and Vanecek. Following the scrimmage, wind-sprints made their way back to Kettler.
Washington Capitals Goalie Coach Mitch Korn was back on the ice today, working with the goalies. In typical Korn-fashion, props were also part of the action.
