Tom Wilson and Madison Bowey made their way back to Kettler Saturday morning. They join those already back in the mix, including: Nicklas Backstrom, Marcus Johansson, Chris Brown, Justin Williams, Braden Holtby, Phillip Grubauer and Mitch Korn: They join early arrivers Karl Alzner, Jason Chimera, John Carlson, Matt Niskanen, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitri Orlov, Stanislav Galiev, Liam O’Brien, Nathan Walker, Jakub Vrana, Vitek Vanecek, and Connor Carrick.
Those yet to return include: Alex Ovechkin (9/14), Brooks Orpik, Jay Beagle, T.J. Oshie, Nate Schmidt, Andre Burakovsky (Saturday afternoon), Brooks Laich, Justin Peters and Taylor Chorney.
The morning skate once again consisted of several warm-up drills, followed by a 4 on 4 scrimmage, which lasted close to an hour.
Notes
-
Nicklas Backstrom skated for the third straight day. As previously noted, Backstrom skated no more than three times a week prior to returning to Virginia.
- Dmitri Orlov continues to stand out, amongst those who have returned to this point. Orlov is playing at a notch above all others on the ice. Orlov hit a couple of beautiful top-shelf shots in the 4 on 4 scrimmage this morning, and continues to dazzle on the defensive end.
- No practice for the Capitals Sunday or Monday.
