The Capitals continued their scoring onslaught on Thursday night, beating the Red Wings 6-3 at Verizon Center. Unfortunately for the Caps, the win came at some cost.

Andre Burakovsky
Andre Burakovsky’s injury appears to be fairly serious. He took a shot off the hand in the first period of the game, would leave and not return. Coach Barry Trotz told the media after the game that he will not play on Saturday versus the Ducks, and that “he will miss some time”.

“We have one game until our break, so Zach Sanford will go in,” said Trotz, per the Washington Post. “He’s done a really good job in Hershey. We’ll reassess it after that point. We’ve got five days to sort of figure out what we’re going to do there.”

Burakovsky was seen leaving the locker room with his right hand wrapped.

Brett Connolly
Connolly was knicked-up from a collision he was in just prior to his goal in the first period. Connolly was able to complete the game, but was walking with a noticeable limp following the game.

The Caps had been very fortunate this season as far as injuries (19 games lost before tonight). Red Wings had not (222 games lost). However, it was against the Red Wings in which T.J. Oshie injured his shoulder back in November, ultimately causing him to miss seven games. Coach Trotz’s post game presser:
