The Washington Capitals have re-assigned defenseman Christian Djoos to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. 

Djoos, 22, returns to Hershey after his first NHL recall. The seventh round selection of Washington in the 2012 NHL Draft did not see any game action with Washington. With Hershey this season, Djoos has posted 26 points (five goals, 21 assists) in 35 games. He ranks first on the club in scoring among defenders, and fifth overall in points. His 21 assists are good for third on the club. In his AHL career, Djoos has appeared in 98 games with Hershey, scoring 49 points (14 goals, 36 assists).

Djoos has earned 26 points (5g, 21a) in 35 games with Hershey (AHL) this season. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native ranks third on the team in assists and fifth in points. In addition, he leads Bears defensemen in points and assists and ranks tied for first in goals. Djoos recorded a career-high three assists on Nov. 19 against Syracuse and has registered six multi-point games this season. The 6’0”, 164-pound defenseman earned 22 points (8g, 14a) in 62 games last season and led Hershey defensemen in goals. He has earned 49 points (13g, 36a) in 98 career AHL games with Hershey. Djoos was drafted by the Capitals in the seventh round, 195th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.

BEARS ROSTER MOVES
The Hershey Bears announced three roster moves. In addition to the re-assignment of Djoos, the Bears have recalled defenseman Joey Leach from the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL and signed defenseman Justin Agosta of the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL to a professional tryout agreement.

Leach, 24, has skated in 18 games with Hershey this season, registering three assists and a plus/minus of +8. The 6-foot-4, 211-pound defender has appeared in 24 career games with the Bears over the past two seasons, notching six assists, a +13 rating, and 42 penalty minutes.

Agosta, 26, has enjoyed a strong season with Manchester this year. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound defender has scored 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) and posted a +17 plus/minus rating in 31 games with the Monarchs. He was named to the 2017 ECHL All-Star Classic. The second-year pro spent the majority of his rookie season in 2015-16 with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, appearing in 41 games, scoring 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists).
